Contributor Visibility Management

EKKOU provides flexible options to manage who can see the list of members who have paid a contribution, as well as the exact amounts they have paid. This ensures that associations can respect privacy policies while maintaining transparency where required.

Hierarchical Visibility

Contributor visibility is managed through a hierarchical system, meaning that settings on a specific contribution override the default settings of its contribution type, which in turn override the global association settings.

The hierarchy follows this order of precedence:

  1. Contribution Level (Highest): Settings applied directly to a single contribution.
  2. Contribution Type Level: Default settings for all contributions of a specific type.
  3. Association Level (Lowest): Global defaults for your entire association.

Available Settings

At each level, you have the following toggles:

  • Share contributor list (show_contributors): Determines if members can see the list of people who have paid.
  • Show individual amounts (show_contributor_amounts): Determines if the specific amount paid by each person is visible. This setting is only active if "Share contributor list" is enabled.

When editing these settings at the Contribution or Contribution Type level, you will see a third option: Inherit. Choosing "Inherit" tells the system to fallback to the setting of the level immediately above it.

Setting Visibility (Association Level)

  1. Open the Admin Mobile App or Web Dashboard.
  2. Go to Settings > Advanced Settings.
  3. Under the Financial Settings section, use the toggles for:
    • Share contributor list: Turn on or off globally.
    • Show individual amounts: Turn on or off globally.
  4. Save your changes.

These global settings will act as the baseline fallback for all contributions that have their visibility set to "Inherit".

Setting Visibility (Contribution Type)

  1. Go to Contribution Types.
  2. Select an existing type or create a new one.
  3. In the Settings section of the form, define the visibility options:
    • Inherit (Default): Follows the Association Level setting.
    • Yes (True): Forces visibility on for this specific type.
    • No (False): Forces visibility off for this specific type.
  4. Save.

Setting Visibility (Specific Contribution)

  1. Go to Contributions.
  2. Edit the specific contribution you wish to modify.
  3. Scroll down to the Transparency & Visibility section and adjust the visibility options:
    • Inherit: Follows the Contribution Type setting.
    • Yes: Overrides all other settings to make this specific contribution visible.
    • No: Hides the contributors strictly for this contribution.
  4. Save.

How Members Experience This

If the final resolved visibility for a contribution allows it, members using the EKKOU Member App will be able to tap on a past contribution to view:

  • The total amount collected.
  • A list of members who have contributed (if show_contributors is true).
  • The exact amount paid by each member listed (if show_contributor_amounts is true).

If visibility is restricted, members will only see their own payment history connected to the contribution without seeing the full contributor list.
